Wild Flour Bread is on the list for all of us out here. Organic brick oven baked--try the cinammon sticky bun bread on Sunday morning. (Fri.-Mon), Freestone (3 minutes).
Peter Lowell's (new 10/07) Offering fresh pastry and coffee in the morning, and delicious "produce-based" (organic, vegetarian with some local seafood thrown in for flexitarians) with an Italian flair. Bodega Bay

Claudios
Turn right on HW 1, to a little shopping center overlooking the Bay harbor. Delicious seafood and Italian specialties. I love their salmon and veal.

Mirepoix in old part of Windsor
Owned and operated by the Carrot and the Leek, this tiny restaurant matches California wines to food perfectly, and they always offer something special. Must make reservations. Go early and check out the renovation of Windsor. This is an example of downtown rehab at it's best.
Many other restaurants on the square in Windsor-Thai, Italian, California....
John Ash, the premier winery restaurant. Posh, comfortable and delicious. Must have reservations.Beautiful pool with redwood forest in background.

Seaweed Cafe is owned by two women and has a definite French accent. This is a tiny place with superlative and exciting food and wine. It is located in Bodega Bay, almost at the water's edge, next door to an art gallery and a bait shop.
Angelique... elegant pasteries, prepared for the the most demanding customers. If you want a late breakfast go here for wonderful coffee drinks, the best hot chocolate outside of Italy, and every elegant cake and pastry you can imagine, served on the lovely redwood deck. An excellent way to start your leisurly day near the plaza in Sebastopol (across the parking from the Sebastopol Theaters).
Chocolate Shop on Main Street. New! Outrageous chocolate desserts, teas and coffees. Make a reservation for high tea and enjoy savory as well as sweet baked food. Comfortable, cozy and warm setting, elegant chocolates, candies and baked goods.

In Graton, Willow Wood Market. This is a spot the locals frequent, it's an old grocery store, sort of funky looking, with interesting nic nacs for sale and the food is so delicious...meat, fish, and vegetarian, good wine selection. No reservations, go early, although in the middle of the week you shouldn't have to wait long.
Across the street is the Underwood, which is a step up in cost, great place to go for oysters, and I recommend it especially if it's a hot day because then you can eat outside on their patio where it is quieter. It is a bit noisy inside. A very active bar where the young and restless hang out in the evening.
The French Garden opened in October of 2006 and features organic produce from the land behind our property. The chef is imaginative and the food is delicious, priced fairly, with lots of variety, based on the best of what is available. I enjoyed the fresh Salmon, served with a variety of savory vegetables. The large portion was cooked perfectly and tasted as though it had been pulled from the sea that afternoon. Other dishes I've tasted and enjoyed are Beef Wellington, with a mushroom pate (yum) and a tender tasty filet, wrapped in a pastry. Imagine sausage made from scallops and halibut. The desserts are good. For a small meal, perhaps some music and a fireside or patio environment have a bistro meal in the bar.
The French Garden is located on the Bodega Highway, just west of Sebastopol, in the completely remodeled building that was Marty's Top 'O the Hill. 824-2030
K & L Bistro In Sebastopol. Make a reservation. Grill, sea food, meat. Virtually all the restaurants here have vegetarian entrees as well. 119 Main Street, catty corner from the Main Street Theater.

Sushi Hanna is famous here for their specials night where you can get sushi for $1.00 (I believe it's Wednesday as a matter of fact!) The children are now running the restaurant, the old ones have moved to Montana and started a Korean Restaurant. I really like their food.

Further away but wonderful within 30 minutes...
Syrah in Santa Rosa. Located in Railroad Square, lovely spot and good food in an old renovated brick building.
Dry Creek Kitchen at the Healdsburg Hotel. This upscale place is located right on the Plaza in Healdsburg. They have jazz and drinks for free during the jazz festival..and other times too! Nice outdoor patio and swimming pool (dinner guests have pool privileges). Lots of chi chi boutiques in the area. Expensive.Go early for window shopping. Great book stores too.
Rivers End near Jenner on the North coast. Lovely view of the coast, good food, cozy environment, located right on highway one.
Tandoori Grill is a definitely a "room with a view". The best view actually. For an early evening dinner of Indian Cuisine at a reasonable price go here.On warm evenings there is a deck and when it's cooler the view is framed in huge windows with a complete view of the Russian River Valley and the mouth of the river going into the Pacific Ocean. It is breathtaking, and the food is good..Tandoori specialties, curries. They have it all.
The Blue Heron in Duncan's Mill is a sweet dining room, hand crafted from redwood, looking out onto a foresty garden. It is serene there, and often there is live guitar music. Not a gourmet meal.

The Farmhouse Inn
is a country inn, with a sophisticated menu. Romantic, with a good wine list, it is near here, on River Road out of Forestville (10 minutes).
Zazu looks like an old road house and is located is on Guernville Road on the way to Santa Rosa (10 to 15 minutes). The desserts are as great as the meals here. Their wine list is one of the best for local Pinot Noirs. Also, on Wed. Thurs. and Sunday there is a Pizza and Pinot menu.

90 minutes North of San Francisco, West of Sebastopol, near Freestone, 15 minutes from the beach at Bodega. Near the beach, yet the advantages of warmer inland weather.
